Accessories NZM Moulded Case Circuit Breakers
The mode of operation and fitting of the accessories is identical for every size. Contact elements from the RMQ-Titan range of control circuit devices are used for the entire NZM range of circuit-breakers. This ensures a reduction in the variety of types, a decrease in ordering expense and effort and consequently, simpler stock-keeping.
The contact elements can be simply clipped in from the front. The position determines the function: signalling contact or trip-indicating auxiliary contact.
Effective shunt or undervoltage releases, combined also with early-make auxiliary contacts for Emergency-Stop functions or load-shedding circuits, offer elegant solutions for a wide of functioning applications.

Toggle or rotate
The new range of circuit-breakers is actuated as standard using the tried and tested toggle lever. Three switch positions On, Off and Tripped indicate the status of the device. For typical disconnector applications, where no voltage release is required, Eaton offers competitivelypriced PN switch-disconnectors with switch position indication 0 and 1.
Depending on individual requirements, toggling can be converted to a rotary movement by fitting a rotary operator. When using the main- or Emergency-Stop switch with a rotary handle, it can be locked using up to three padlocks. The rotary handles are also available in red/yellow for Emergency-Stop functions.
Operator on rear
The innovative rear operator for 3-pole circuit-breakers and switch-disconnectors provides an attractively priced and compact method to fit switches and door rotary handles as a mounting unit in control panel enclosure side panels. Typical areas of application are main switches with or without Emergency-Stop functions up to 250 A rated current, in processing machines with limited space availability. In addition to the optical benefits of the externally "invisible" fixing, this solution also offers simple and fast access to terminals, setting buttons, voltage release and auxiliary contacts.
The UL/CSA approval ensures world-wide use of the components – even on the North American market.
Side operator
Up to 630 A, the side wall operator enables the switch to be operated from the right or left hand side as desired. Optional fitting of our mounting bracket results in optimum use of space in the control panel. The mounting plate can thus be used for other machine control elements.
Remote operators
The concept of uniform functions brings about simpler operation for all remote operators. The spring-powered actuator permits closing delays of 60 or 100 ms, thereby also allowing application in the field of synchronization. Short function sequences and fewer parts ensure a high degree of stability and a long service life. Safety is also emphasized here by the sealing option for the Auto function and by the facility for padlocking the remote operator.
Door coupling rotary handle compliant to North American standards NFPA79 and UL508A
The North American standard stipulates that the operating handle must always be permanently connected to the switch. This applies even when the control panel door is open.
The door coupling rotary handle door coupling rotary handle with supplementary handle on the switch realizes this demand. The handle complies with the latest NFPA79 and UL508A standard in terms of a deliberate action.
The deliberate action involves the supplementary handle being rotated by about 20 degrees, and then pushing and turning it simultaneously to turn on the switch. The important safety properties such as actuation features, indication of the switch position and locking capabilities are now doubled up and available both externally on the door coupling rotary handles as well as internally on the switch.
The rotary handle is available for switch sizes 1, 2, 3 and 4.
Withdrawable unit
As usual, plug-in and withdrawable units in addition to the fixed mounted option are available. It makes it easier to quickly adapt to malfunctions or increases in the rated current range and thus avoid long downtimes.
Uniform racking handle operation for withdrawable units enhances operating safety and ensures a test position for function testing without having to switch the main contacts.
Plug-in unit
The plug-in feature enables rapid and uncomplicated exchange of circuit-breakers without having to shutdown the entire system. The same widths for the fixed and withdrawable circuit-breakers ensures simple engineering during the system design phase.
A very visible isolating distance can be implemented in addition to the isolating characteristics by the use of plug-in breakers. The open plug-in contacts are finger-proof (IP2X).
Spacers
Switches and accessories were constructed with systematic depth graduation. Together with the new mounting rings, all the switches are basically positioned at the same front height. Individual preparation of spacers is not required.
The result is a cost-effective alternative to the door coupling rotary handle with extension shaft for external operation of the circuitbreaker. This worldwide innovation gains time and saves expense.
Insulating surround
The insulation surround always fits – regardless of if the circuit-breaker is equipped with a toggle-lever, rotary drive or remote operator. It is unnecessary to keep differing insulating surrounds in stock. It is the cost-effective method to operate circuit-breakers externally when the control panel door is closed. The insulating surround has IP 40 degree of protection and the inscription labels can be simply clipped in.
Top-hat rail installation
Fast and efficient top-hat rail installation with the use of a clip plate. Just simply attach the clip plate from the rear onto the circuit-breaker and clip it onto the top-hat rail. No need to drill holes in the mounting plate.
The particular advantage of the small NZM1: the "standard dimension" enables side-by-side installation with miniature circuit breakers in service distribution boards.
The termination options on the new NZM circuit-breaker series allow you great flexibility to adapt to any requirement in your application. Whether you are using copper or aluminium cable, copper strip or copper busbar, the NZM has the appropriate connection for them all. For example, the box terminal on NZM 2 and 3 can be opened at the top to facilitate insertion of conductors. An add-on part achieves IP20 degree of protection (finger-proof).
Connection preparation for multiple conductors
It enables the connection of up to nine conductors with cable lugs per phase. Auxiliary busbars are no longer required.
Rear connection
This method of connection allows busbars or round conductors to be connected at the rear. Partitioning of the switch area, terminal area and operator area is carried out without difficulty.
Control circuit terminals
The control circuit terminals are simply screwed onto the respective connection type. The tap-offs for voltage meters, control transformers and undervoltage releases are implemented quickly.
Back of hand or finger-proof
Cable-lug, box-terminal or tunnel-terminal – it does not matter as covers will always ensure that they are back-of-hand proof.
Fingerproof to IP2X, conform to IEC/EN 60204-1 for main switches is fast and easy to implement. The new additional covers can be matched to every cross-section.
The residual-current protection modules can be connected to the bottom of the circuit-breaker NZM1 and NZM2 (on the NZM1 on the right) with the same contour design.
This device combination fulfils the following tasks:
- conduct and switch current up to 250 A
- protection with overload, short-circuit and fault current.
A compact and mounting-friendly solution!
Alternatively the modules can be combined with switch-disconnectors N. An external auxiliary voltage is not required. The residual-current protection module of the NZM2 is independent of the mains voltage and can thus be used for personnel protection in Germany.
You can select between pulse current sensitive and AC/DC sensitive devices. There are 3 and 4-pole devices featuring different rated fault currents available for almost every mains constellation: from 30 mA to time-discriminating 3 A.
In the event of a fault the residual-current-operated circuit-breaker on the NZM1 will initially indicate the rising fault current via an LED. Only when the adjusted fault current is exceeded will the residual-current release of the circuit-breaker trip. This means: the main contacts are opened. The cause of the trip is indicated mechanically on the NZM1 and 2.
Optional auxiliary contacts can be clipped on in order to remotely indicate the trip. The circuit-breaker and the residual-current release must be reset and switched back on in order to restore the power supply.
PFR Residual Current Relay with Ring-Type Transducer – Flexible fault current protection up to 1800 A current rating
Ring-type transducers which are arranged in a space saving manner on the cabling run and the measuring relay which is simply snapped onto the DIN mounting rail, combine to form a functional unit.
The relay/transducer combination covers operating currents in a range from 1 to 1800 A. The wide spectrum of applications ranges from general power distribution tasks to individual motor controls.
The fault currents which are detected and processed by the relay range from 30 mA to 5 A.
Residual Current Relay with Ring-Type Transducer
The adjustable relay provides a pre-warn function which alerts before the set fault current is exceeded. The pre-warning allows preventative action to be taken to prevent shutdown of the electrical energy.
